SNOW DAY... WAHOOO!!!!

So in about 1.5 years of being at Guelph... this is our first snow day. With the Olympics, on it just makes it for an all good time at the home with the T.V. on and hot chocolate in my hands (well in a mug in my hands... cause that would burn). It's a little upsetting that I got up at 5 am with nothing to read, went back to bed and woke up at 7 had a shower... and then dad calls me and tells me that there is no school. I coudl have slept in fora very long time, but I guess not eh?

So the Olympics. We aren't doing too bad this year, but I'm most upset right now about snowboard cross! Snowboard Cross the new olympic snowboarding sport had Seth Wescott (USA) winning the gold. That was supposed to be Canada "remaking History," like how CBC put it! But after Drew Neilson fell down in the first heat of the 1/8 Finals and came in 3rd in his heat (not qualifying for quarterfinals) and then Francois Boivin make it to the quarter finals and then coming in 3rd, so he couldn't get into the semis and then the biggest upset, the last Canadian on the Snowboard cross who made it to Semi finals Jasey Jay Anderson getting DQ'd for apparently intentionally pushing another competitor.... Argh it's annoying!

After winning against Germany 10-5, Brad Gushue and our Canadian team messed up, on a fairly easy shot, the game we played in curling against Sweden, losing 8-7. But since then, he has picked up those pieces and won 9-5 and 7-5 against Great Britain and Switzerland, respectively. As of right now though we are tied 5-5 against Norway on the 10th end. Hopefully we'll win it.

In hockey, are women are winning it all so far with our first game against Italy, 16-0, then against Russia, 12-0, and then against Sweden, 8-1. Tomorrow is our next game at 9:05pm (turin time) against Finland. Our Men's hockey team have only played one game so far and we won that 7-2 against Italy. Later today, is their next game against Germany.

Right now we have 4 medals. Our big gold winner right now is Jennifer Heil. If you saw it... I must say it was amazing. She was 1st in the qualification round, which meant she got to go last in the finals... and boy did she blow it out of this world. I liked the fact that she just kept it to the basics and didn't try anything too crazy. She worked on getting those easier tricks perfect and she did it... our first gold on the first day of the olympic games! We also have 1 silver from Cross-Country Skiing Ladies' Team sprint with Beckie Scott and Sara Renner, which was very pleasing. Our two bronzes went to Cindy Klassen for Speed Skating Ladies' 3000 m and to Anouk Leblanc-Boucher for Short Track Speed Skating Ladies' 500 m. And that's the update for now...

... I can't wait for the hockey game this afternoon and for another new olympic game, the Speed Skating Mens' and Ladies' Team Pursuit, I hope we win those. We did pretty good with Canada's Ladies' getting the Olympic record and with our Mens' with the World Record... so yeh... I'm audi! have a great day y'all and I'll see you soon! Home tomorrow night for a week of Spring Break... wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SNOW DAY!!!

Well I guess the horror ended... I found a place!

After stressing over housing stuff for a very very long time... I finally found the place. I've only seen two houses, but in fear of losing a spot in this place I just took it. The room is massive and is somewhat cheap for a place in guelph that's right beside everything. It's $425 including utlities, cable and internet. I love the back yard it's massive... like volleyball court size... I was like... sweeeeeeet!!! the first place I saw was (those two words are like a mirror, ha) in an apartment building... it was pretty nice, but the girl that I would been living with was vegetarian... and that my friends I could not do... don't know how'd she react with all my meat meals... Mmmm Meat!

So yeh... that's it... I went back to the place yesterday and signed the lease and everything. I met the landlord and signed the sept-sept lease as well... which is awesome... no more stress for me! Oh and the landlord owns a restaurant called "Good Taste Chinese Restaurant" and I got free dumplings yesterday from her... it was sweeeeet! As I was about to leave, she told me that from now on whenever I want food from here I don't have to pay any taxes.... and once a month i get free food... so it's a win situation for me, don't know about her! :D I'm really excited! That's about all I have to report... so yeh... l8s, latex and all that good stuff!!!

AHHH! Houses... When will the horror end!?!

So, let me tell you.... I've been looking for a place to live in Guelph for the next few years and my goodness it's difficult. Last year, I found it a lot easier to find a place (not a great place, but a place none the less). But this year, the area that I want to live is not the area that people are trying to find roommates for. I want an apartment by myself, but my mother doesn't like that idea and yelled at me for even thinking of it. So I've been looking for a place with randoms, which is going to be a little weird, but I guess it's a little better. Don't know why, but I think it is... I hope it is!

This year I'm being extremely picky because I want to make sure that the place I have, is a place that I'll be happy living in and won't be "ashamed" of to show my friends. Like this year, I don't particularly like the house, actually I find it quite craptastic and by quite I mean ultra. Some of my friends want to come over and see my place, but I just say "No. It's too ugly to show people."

So far I have just been reading the descriptions of places and judging if I would like to live there or not. And I use the word judging because I can't really think of an appropriate word in terms of "is that a good area?", "is it close to everything?", "is it far from school?", "what's the price and is including utilities?" and all of that jazz. I guess it's just those normal questions that people should be asking, but I didn't really think of it that much last year. I just went with wherever Bryan and Mike wanted to live... turns out I have totally regretted living there... oh well! I've e-mailed two people and am going to be seeing one place tomorrow at 4pm and the other 2 pm on Friday.

The one tomorrow is in an apartment building with a girl... Don't know how my parents are going to feel about that, but as of right now I don't really care. I'm hoping that it's going to be a nice place. The girl is going to 3rd year zoology and wants to be a vet as well, so that'd be pretty cool. It's a ten minute walk to campus, right beside my church, right behind the mall and by two grocery stores. Plus all of my friends live in that area, so I don't have to go all the way across Guelph to see them and then have to walk home for an hour because I left their place after the buses stopped running anymore. It's just a little irritating when that happens almost every weekend. The other place is with 3 guys, in a house with a pool and hot tub and dishwasher and I'd get the master bedroom with walk-in closet... a quadruple score I must say... so I'm hoping that either of these houses will be the one.

That's all I have to say about this house business... I just want it to be over with so I don't have to worry and stress over it anymore...

latex and all that stuff (my new phrase)
